Under normal operating conditions in Zone 1 (Gas-Ex), a potentially explosive atmosphere can build up as a mixture of air and combustible gases, fumes or mists. This is the case in many chemical processing sectors, but also in the paint industry, refineries and hazardous materials stores, for example. These models are also available for operation in Zone 21 (Dust-Ex). Trucks for operation in Zone 21 (Category 2D) need to be used when, under normal operating conditions, a potentially explosive atmosphere can build up in the form of a cloud of flammable dust contained in the air. As all organic dusts become flammable when mixed with a specific concentration of air, these conditions apply, amongst others, to certain sectors of food and animal feed production, as well as the timber and plastics industries.
